What should you do in a dental emergency?
If you sustain an injury following an accident involving your mouth, seek professional help, no matter the issue. The faster you go to our emergency dentist for treatment, the more options there will be to solve the issue with relative ease.
What should you do when you knock out or chip a tooth?
If a permanent tooth is chipped or broken, strive to keep it moist at all times. If possible, try to place the tooth back in the socket without harming the root. If you are unable to do this, try putting it in milk or between your gums and cheeks until you can see a dentist. Additionally, to minimize swelling, apply a cold compress to your cheek.
How can I stop a toothache?
First, clean your mouth with warm water. Carefully remove any debris, such as food that has become caught between the teeth, using dental floss. Do not apply any medications directly to the sore tooth or gums, as this can worsen the issue. Rinse with a saltwater solution, apply a warm compress on the sore area, and make sure to call us right away.
How do I get sharp food out of my gums?
When an object gets stuck in your mouth or gums, you can use dental floss to remove it gently without doing more harm. Avoid, at all costs, using a sharp or pointed tool to remove it. If you do not see a way to remove it without doing any harm, you should come to see us as soon as possible.
My pain went away, do I still need to see a dentist?
Pain is your body’s way of telling you something isn’t right. If you’re feeling uncomfortable, even if the pain goes away after a few days, tell us about it! It’s likely there’s an issue still hidden under the surface and the pain will return in the future even worse than before.
